Advantages of Paint Canvas

1

High colour reproduction: The coating of oil painting canvas can absorb the oil paint, which makes the paintings have better colour reproduction. Compared with ordinary oil painting canvas, oil painting canvas can show more vivid colours and delicate texture.

2

Strong durability: The specially treated oil painting canvas has better durability and can stay flat for a long time without blistering or cracking. It is also water and moisture resistant, making it suitable for long-term storage.

3

Easy to paint: The coating on the canvas makes it easier to apply paint, so the picture is smoother and the flow of paint is better controlled, making the painting process smoother.

4

Environmentally friendly and healthy: Art Paint usually uses natural limestone, inorganic mineral soil and other high quality environmentally friendly materials, does not contain formaldehyde and VOC, harmless to human body and environment. You can move in within a short time after construction, which is very environmentally friendly.

5

Good decorative effect: Art paint breaks the limitations of ordinary paint, bright and eye-catching colours, soft and delicate gloss, and various textures, which can create a high level of decorative effect.

6

Rich texture: Art Paint can simulate the texture of silk, velvet, leather and other textures, and through various construction techniques and skills, it can create a rich variety of decorative effects to enhance the tactile and visual enjoyment of space.

7

Superior performance: Art paint has excellent properties such as waterproof and anti-mould, dustproof and anti-fouling, scratch-resistant, etc., which can effectively avoid the problems of discoloration, bulging and warping, and prolong the service life of the decorative effect.

Application of Paint Canvas

The area of art
Oil painting, watercolour, drawing and other forms of art all require canvas as a support. The texture and saturation of the canvas make the painting fuller in colour and the brush strokes clearer. The absorbency of watercolour paper makes the adjustment between dryness and moisture of the paint more flexible, which is more suitable for painting and writing.

Handicrafts
Canvas can be used as a material in handicrafts, such as hand-painted wall hangings and bags, which can take full advantage of the texture and stretch of canvas in the handmade process.

Decorative area
Fabric paints and stickers are among the applications of canvas in the field of decoration, which can create wall art with rich texture and layering, enhancing the beauty and taste of the interior.

Types of Paint Canvas

Oilcloth

Oilcloth is a cotton, linen or mixed fabric that has been specially treated and coated. Its advantage is its strong texture and high strength. Thanks to its smooth and elastic surface, oil paintings can achieve a bright and full effect. Oil canvas can be used in different textures and thicknesses according to the needs of different works.

Watercolour paper

Watercolour paper is a kind of cotton texture, the texture is relatively thick, with a certain degree of water absorption, the appearance of the texture and the laying of acrylic paint texture is similar. The advantage of watercolour paper is its absorbency, which can let the pigment flow freely, so it is widely used in watercolour painting and sketching.

Fabric pigment

Fabric pigment refers to the decorative paints that use fabric as the pigment carrier. Its surface is delicate and rich in texture, with strong binding ability to the pigment, as well as good corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance. Fabric pigment is commonly used in fresco painting, interior decoration and other fields.

FAQ

Q: What type of paint should I use on canvas?

A: Acrylic and oil paints work wonderfully on canvas. Gouache can work but it’s not permanent, because like watercolour, it will reconstitute with moisture and go back to its liquid paint form, but it can be used if you’re looking for a quick project.

Q: Can watercolour be used on canvas?

A: Like gouache, watercolour can be used on canvas, but it won’t be a permanent medium. Watercolour works well on a flat surface, and it will need to be kept away from moisture -- watercolour artworks are usually framed behind glass for this reason. Watercolour can also sink into the weave and weft of the canvas so even coats can be difficult to create. So, if you’re looking for a quick watercolour project, it’s best to use a flat, canvas panel.

Q: Can I cancel my order?

A: To cancel an order before it ships, have your order number ready and reach out to us at Zealhot@aliyun.com. Unfortunately, we cannot process cancellations for shipped items. Explore our returns page or contact us for alternative options.

Q: What do you put on a canvas after painting?

A: Varnishing your artwork will help lengthen the life of your masterpiece and it’ll help protect against UV damage too. With varnishing, you’ll also be able to clean your artwork, so it’ll help stop dirt, dust and grime getting onto your painting. What to put on the canvas after painting will of course depend on the painting.

Q: Do you offer express shipping options?

A: Yes, we do offer faster shipping options, but they come with an additional cost for express shipping.

Q: What is a good canvas size?

A: This depends on personal preference and your overall project. Some artists like working on large canvases and others find large canvases to be too time-consuming. A rough guide for a good canvas size is around 60cm X 90cm (23.6 x 35.4in) for portraits and landscapes, it’ll give you enough room for plenty of detail. Otherwise, 30cm X 40cm (11.8 x 15.7in) is a good project size that won’t take too long to cover. If you’re looking for a bigger size, try 1m x 1.2m (39.37 x 47.24in).

Q: What countries do you ship to?

A: We offer shipping within the UK for most products. However, please note that specific items, such as paint pens in golden silver and paint palettes, are exclusively shipped to the USA and not available for shipping within the UK.

Q: How long does it take for refunds to be processed?

A: Refunds are processed promptly on our end. However, the timeline for the availability of funds depends on your banking institution. Typically, funds are processed and made available within 3-5 business days.

Q: What’s the difference between single thick and double thick canvases?

A: Single thick canvases have a smaller profile (thinner timber frame) than a double thick canvas, meaning the width of the edges to the wall is narrower on a single thick. Single thick canvases are great for a range of acrylic paint projects and double thick canvases are great for holding thicker paints like oils.

Q: What paint works best on canvas?

A: Acrylic Paints and Oil paints are the best for painting on a Canvas.

Q: What kind of paint stays on canvas?

A: Oil paint. Whether it's traditional oil paint or water-soluble oil paint, oils are very well suited to painting on canvas. Their thick, viscous texture requires a heavy-duty painting surface to rest upon that won't be degraded by oil, and a primed canvas provides just that.

Q: Should I wet my canvas before acrylic painting?

A: Moisten the Back of Your Canvas. Unless you're painting on a canvas board, you'll want to flip your canvas over and wet the back of your canvas.

Q: What should I use to draw on canvas before painting?

A: It's a great idea to sketch before picking up the paints, especially if you’re a planner. Both graphite and charcoal can be used to draw on a canvas before painting it. Graphite is great for sketching strong lines that won’t move and charcoal can be easily removed, (though it can sometimes mix with paint if there’s some leftovers so try to remove it before painting). To remove graphite, use warm water and dish washing liquid and reach for a kneadable eraser for charcoal.

Q: How do I track an order?

A: Once your order is shipped and tracking information is added, you will receive a notification. Use the provided details to track your order with ease.

Q: Can you tell me, how to prepare a canvas?

A: Our Mont Marte canvases are already pre-primed, but if you’re working with another canvas or looking to add a glassy finish, apply a coat of gesso then let it dry. You can then sand it back before applying another coat of gesso. Be sure to add your canvas keys in first to help prevent warping -- this can happen from using lots of paint or large volumes of thick paint. For more on how to prep a canvas, check out our how-to and we’ll show you all there is to know.

Q: What are the shipping costs?

A: Within the UK, shipping is free. For international orders, including the USA, delivery fees apply, and the cost is determined by the specific destination.

Q: What is the difference between stretched canvas and canvas panel?

A: A stretched canvas is simply a canvas that has been stretched over a timber frame with mitred joints. A canvas panel is a canvas wrapped board. Canvas panels are much flatter, they can be framed and are a great option for quick projects, while canvases are larger in dimension and don’t need to be framed.

Q: Can you paint over a canvas painting?

A: You can, clean the canvas first, then either paint over the painting or sand the painting back and apply a coat of gesso. With oil paints, you can sand the artwork back and apply a new coat over the top too.
